Netflix subscribers have a limited window to stream Minions, the spin-off of the hit Despicable Me franchise that itself became a global box-office sensation. Featuring the voice of Michael Keaton as well as many other stars, the film follows three mischievous Minions as they become entangled in a supervillain’s plan.
Minions will leave Netflix next month
The animated box office hit Minions is leaving Netflix next month. The animated film is scheduled to exit the streaming platform on November 1, 2026, according to What’s On Netflix.
Released in theaters on July 10, 2015, Minions was directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda from a screenplay written by Brian Lynch. Its success spawned the sequel Minions: The Rise of Gru, which arrived in 2022, and the prequel Minions & Monsters, which was released earlier this year.
The story of the first film follows Kevin, Stuart, and Bob as they leave their fellow Minions behind to find a new leader. Their search leads them to Scarlet Overkill, a criminal mastermind who recruits them to help achieve global domination. Working alongside Scarlet and her husband, Herb, the trio becomes entangled in a scheme that puts the entire Minion population in danger.
The film’s voice cast features Coffin as the Minions, Sandra Bullock as Scarlet Overkill, and Jon Hamm as Herb Overkill. Michael Keaton voices Walter Nelson, Allison Janney voices Madge Nelson, and Jennifer Saunders voices Queen Elizabeth II.
In contrast to its strong commercial performance, Minions received mixed reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 55 percent critics’ score based on 226 reviews, while its audience score is listed at 49 percent.
The film was a major box-office success, earning more than $1.1 billion worldwide. According to Box Office Mojo, its total includes approximately $336 million from domestic theaters and more than $823 million internationally.
